“This charming story enchanted me throughout the whole book. I’ve always enjoyed reading books by Kay Layton Sisk and this book is one of the reasons why!”

“You’re still here,” she commented but wouldn’t let herself look at him.

“Am I being asked to leave?”

“I need to get dressed.” She retreated into the kitchen.

“Wyndha, look at me.”

“Rudy, you need to go.”

“We need to talk.” He rose slowly from the chair and crossed the distance between them, standing a foot away. He lifted her chin on a fingertip and turned her face so she’d have to look at him. “Tell me I didn’t get an electrical charge from you when I came in. Make me believe it and I’ll go. Hell, we’ll leave the country ASAP.”

“I was thinking more of regrets.”

“Before last night’s dinner or after?” he asked softly, as his eyes implored her to supply the right answer.

“Before.” A gleam shot through her eyes and her lips twitched in a smile.

“Saucy woman.” He touched her lips with his thumb and sent shivers through her. “Make me believe that.”

“Oh, Rudy.” She had no other words. The resolve from last night cratered as he pulled on her lower lip, and the kiss she bestowed on his thumb was involuntary. She could no more have stopped the action than she could have slowed her rampaging heart. One week or one hour, she wanted this.
